Don Carlton Rogers, 78, passed away on February 14 after a lengthy battle with melanoma cancer. He was born in Hawaii to the late M/Gen. Turner C. Rogers and Betty Newman Rogers and grew up in a military family that included 3 brothers. Don was predeceased by his brother Roc C. Rogers (Ann Marie Rogers).
Don is survived by his wife Peggy Poduska Rogers, to whom he was married for 47 years. Don and Peggy lived in Atlanta for over 40 years and shared many interests including travel, photography, golf, and longtime support for Zoo Atlanta.
Don is also survived by his brothers Kim C. Rogers (Jill Horner) and Von R. Rogers, nephew Greg Rogers (Kelly), niece Brooke Rogers Miller (Brett), sister-in-law Dr. Patsy Koeppe (Douglas Koeppe, Sr.), brother-in-law Dr. John William Poduska, Sr. (Susan Poduska), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 20 at 2:00pm at the Medford-Peden Funeral Home in Marietta, GA (www.medfordpedenfuneralhome.com). Don’s cousin David W. Rogers will officiate. After the service, friends and family are invited to attend a reception at the Rogers home to share happy memories of Don. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the Emory Winship Cancer Institute or Zoo Atlanta.
The family also wishes to acknowledge and thank Don’s caregivers Jenita Okyere, Arlene Dacres, and Hawa Moro.
