June Denise (Whatley) Mask

June Denise Whatley Mask quietly passed away in her sleep at the age of 86, on October 27, 2016, after a ten year battle with Parkinson’s. June was a resident at Sunrise Senior Living of East Cobb and had lived in Marietta, GA. for the past 51 years. She was born in Opelika, Alabama on June 17, 1930 and grew up in Auburn.  She earned a two year secretarial degree at the university there and was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. June Married Phillip Earl Mask of Mobile, Alabama on December 27, 1949 and enjoyed a 67 year marriage, raising her family. She is survived by 3 children; Marilyn Mask King and Phillip Mask, both of Marietta, and Cheryl Gibson Thomas of Smyrna. She was also blessed with 3 grandchildren: Caroline Mask, Daniel Mask and Tiffany Gibson Harvey and 5 great-grandchildren. June enjoyed art, photography and reading and was a world traveler. Her family was blessed to know her as a loyal and supportive wife and loving and devoted mother. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. June’s Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12 at 3pm at Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation.
