Nancy Faye (Gamble) Wilson

Nancy Faye Gamble Wilson died Thursday, May 19, 2016 after a long illness.  Funeral services will be held Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11 AM in the chapel of Medford-Peden Funeral Home in Marietta with burial to follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park.  Nancy leaves behind her husband, Palmer; children, Krissy & Tryon; grandsons, Parker & Sterling; 3 sisters, 3 brothers; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Nancy was born in New Enterprise, Pennsylvania and met Palmer in Spring in 1965 near Leesburg, Florida where Nancy's family had retired from Dairy farming.  Nancy and Palmer were married in 1966 and moved to Atlanta.  Finally settling in Marietta, Ga. on a 16 acre property, Nancy and Palmer built a horse farm they called Shannon Valley Farm.  Horses were Nancy's passion.  She rode, bought and sold, and boarded horses for more than 50 years.  Nancy made quite a name for herself in the Atlanta horse community, while raising two children.  She drove a school bus for 28 years, then retired to run her horse farm full-time.

For fun Nancy, took her horses on Wagon Trains and trail rides around the United States. She was also an avid country music fan and followed Georgia Strait for many years, attending 180 concerts with her front row center seats.  Nancy was beautiful, kind, loving and a superior horsewoman.   Nancy fell ill to pancreatic cancer in the fall of 2015 and passed away on her daughters birthday in May of 2016.  She was beloved by so many people and will be very missed. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 4PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
