Robert “Bob” H. Payne, 89, of Marietta, Georgia went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 25, 2017. He is preceded in death by his Son, Stephan Hamilton Payne, two Sisters, and six Brothers. He is survived by his wife of 65 ½ years, Jean Payne of Marietta; Daughters, Patricia Orewiler of Butler Ohio, Melinda Williams of Acworth, and Diane (Mike) Ramsey of Powder Springs; Sister, Barbara Marshalek of Acworth; 9 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bob was a loving husband, father, and Grandfather who will be missed greatly. Committed, strong willed, determined, and driven are some adjectives that would describe Bob. He made his children better people. Bob was WWII Veteran serving four years in the army and worked as a trim carpenter after leaving the service. Bob retired from carpentry in 1993, and his passion became vegetable and flower gardening. He was featured on Fox5 with Ken Cook’s “The Big Tomato”. During their retirement years, Bob and Jean traveled to all of the lower 48 states in their much loved motor home. A funeral will be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 11am with Rev. Hayward Bass officiating. Medford Peden Funeral Home is overseeing arrangements, Marietta, Georgia.
