Susa Davis

    Susa Shirley Davis, age 92, of Smyrna, Georgia, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017.  She was born in Fairmount, Georgia on November 5, 1924, the daughter of the late Lewis Franklin Shirley and the late Mary Huldah Neal Shirley.  She graduated from Fairmount High School and attended McKenzie Business School in Chattanooga, where she received a Junior Secretarial Degree.  Sue was married to the late Mack E. Davis of Meridian, Mississippi.  She continued working as a secretary while raising three children.  Her longest employment was with the Internal Revenue Service, Appellate Division, from which she eventually retired. 

          Sue became known as "Grandmother" who was available to help out whenever and wherever needed.  She was always willing to appear at the birth of a new grandchild, babysit when parents needed a vacation, or gladly wash all of the dishes at the end of a busy day.  Sue is fondly remembered for leaving reminder notes to herself, many of which were in shorthand and only she could read them.  She was also admired by her family for her skill in managing limited resources and for her dedicated church attendance.

          Sue is survived by her children, their spouses, and their families:  Carol and Blake Turner of McDonough, Georgia, eight children and fourteen grandchildren (plus three on the way); Rickey and Bobbie Davis of Vidalia, Georgia, three daughters and two granddaughters (plus one on the way); and Nancy and Andy Bray of Powder, Springs, Georgia, three children and two granddaughters.  Sue is also survived by many neices and nephews.

          In keeping with Sue's wishes, her body will be interred at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, Marietta, Georgia.  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 11:00.  Medford-Pedan Funeral Home, Marietta has charge of the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's  Association at alz.org.
