Mark- William Mark Waters passed away on Tuesday morning September 19th 2017, surrounded by family. Mark died after battling years of back pain from an injury and finally esophageal-gastric cancer. He is survived by his mother, Mildred Bane Waters, sisters, Lynn Hobbs, Rebeccah Brown, Kerry Reed and Jenna Horwitz, brothers-in-law David Hobbs, James Brown, Aaron Reed, Jeff Horwitz, four nephews- Alex & Matthew Hobbs, Ben & Sam Reed, and two great nephews Cameron & Brody Hobbs and five nieces, Hannah & Emma Reed, Savannah Driskell, Shawn & Amanda Hobbs and his great niece Juliet Hobbs.
Mark was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1958. His family moved to Michigan where he went to elementary school, then on to Massachusetts. The family moved back to Florida while Mark was a teenager where he discovered his favorite sport, surfing. He graduated from Sandalwood High school in Jacksonville, FL.
Mark took up hunting and had a great passion for guns. He thought it was important to know where your food comes from and had great respect for nature.
He was also a great lover of animals especially dogs. At any given time he would have 3 to 4 rescues at his home. He was our dog whisperer.
Mark was a dedicated son as he shared an auto repair business with his father Bill Waters and made sure his mother was taken care of when his father passed away in 1994. He had his father’s gift of diagnosing and fixing any car problem. Mark carried on the family business until he injured his back while removing a tree from the roof of his elderly neighbor and was no longer able to work.
A Memorial service for Mark will be held in the summer of 2018 in Pensacola Beach, Florida and his ashes scattered in the ocean that he so loved.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Salisbury NC animal shelter in Mark’s memory.
