Gustavo Manuel Galdo, 91, died peacefully on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at the Arbor Terrace Assisted Living Facility of East Cobb Georgia. He was born on March 24, 1927 in Havana, Cuba. Resided in Key Biscayne, FL during his retirement years.
Gustavo graduated from the Louisiana State University where he received a bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, returned to Cuba and found employment with Colgate and Shell Oil companies. Gustavo married his beautiful wife, Silvia Hernandez in December of 1953. A few years later, they immigrated to the United States to flee from the political unrest occurring in Cuba and settled in the town of River Edge, NJ with their four children. While living in New Jersey, he enjoyed a long career in the Food and Beverage industry as a chemical engineer. Gustavo designed process innovations and registered several patents when employed by companies such as General Foods, Martinson Coffee and Tetley Tea.
Gustavo enjoyed spending time surrounded by family and friends at his Key Biscayne home, entertaining all by sharing many stories and telling jokes. Gustavo was excessively fond of chocolate, watching sports especially his team the Miami Heat, truly loved travelling, dining out, music of all types, competitive games of dominoes and known to exhibit unique dance moves at family weddings which were enjoyed by all.
He is survived by his sister, Elena M. Galdo. Sons, Gustavo A. Galdo and wife Becky Galdo, George Galdo and wife JoAnne Galdo, daughters, Silvia Stipicevic and husband Michael Stipicevic, Cristina Cordiliko and husband Daniel Cordiliko. Grandchildren, John and his wife Jessica Galdo, Gus Michael and his wife Connie Galdo, Michelle Gilson and her husband Michael, Kait Cocuzza and her husband Michael Cocuzza, Michael Galdo, Michael Stipicevic, Theresa Stipicevic and her fiancé Robert Donovan, Andrew Stipicevic, Nicole Cordiliko and Anthony Cordiliko. Great granddaughters, Riley Gilson and Gemma Gilson.
Visitation will be Thursday October 18, 2018, 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm
