Vivian Smith

August 19, 1928 ~ September 8, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Vivian Smith, age 89, of Marietta, GA, passed from this life to be with our LORD on September 8, 2017.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She will be greatly missed.   Vivian worked side by side with her husband Paul in the air freight trucking industry for over 40 years. She expressed love and concern for her family and others’ well-being, was a hard worker, never complaining, eager to find a solution to a problem, and enjoyed supporting her husband at work.  She was an avid reader, grew orchids, and enjoyed cooking and homemaking.  She lived in Glencoe, Akron, Ghent/Bath, Doylestown, and Columbus, OH.  After Paul’s death, she decided to move to Georgia to be near her daughter and lived there ten years.

She graduated from Leggett High School, was vice-president of her class, and worked at Emerson Electric Co and Arbogast Fish Tackle Company before her marriage to Paul, then raised her family.  She worked with Paul at Smith Cartaging, Roberts Cartage, both in Akron, OH, and followed him in employment to Quick Air Freight in Columbus, OH.  She steadfastly and lovingly cared for Paul in his later years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Aaron Smith; grandson, David Aaron Smith; step-brothers Don, Frank, and Jim Hollida; mother Sadie Norris, and adoptive aunt Mary Timberlake.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Mark Schlup of Marietta; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Chris Smith of Ohio and Glen and Linda Smith of Kansas; grandchildren, Rebecca Galehouse, Joshua Schlup (Jill), Jessica Johnson (Adam), Lucas Schlup (Mickelle), and Sara Smith; 6 great-grandchildren.

The family will have a private time of remembrance.  Medford-Peden Funeral Home and Crematory – Marietta, GA,  is in charge of arrangements.
