Donald Lynn Thogerson

Donald Lynn Thogerson, 82, went to be with the Lord on July 18, 2023. He was born in Ames, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Lydia Thogerson, of Ames Iowa and his sister, Sandra Powell of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Donald lived in Ames, Iowa going to Iowa State University, Parsons College and Northwestern University. Then moved to Chicago, Ill. to begin his career in the computer field. In 1964 he meets and married his wife, Alice Hotchkiss, and stayed in Chicago, Ill. They had 3 children and took in Alice’s younger siblings Raymond and John Hotchkiss.  The company he worked for got bought out by IBM and they transferred him to Georgia. They settled in Marietta in 1975.

Donald worked for IBM for 30 years as a programmer, systems engineer and a consulting service for IBM customers. He loved fishing and playing with his pet bird “Bobby Lee ‘.

Donald was survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Alice Thogerson of Marietta; and children Larry Thogerson of Marietta, Theresa Wilson of Marietta and Alice (Beth) Gravett of Powder Springs, Ga.; Brother Stan Thogerson of Iai Thailand; and 3 grandchildren Jessica Gravett, Austin Gravett and Cathrine Wilson of Woodstock Ga.

A Memorial Service will be held at Medford – Peden Funeral Home, 1408 Canton Rd. Marietta, Ga. 30066 on Tuesday July 25, 2023, at 12:30pm. Special thanks to the officiating Reverend Tommy Young of Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1878 Powder Springs Road Marietta, Ga. 30064
