Eric "Wayne" Smith

Mr. Wayne Smith Sr. of Marietta Georgia passed away Thursday December 26,2019. Mr. Smith was born in Hogansville Georgia on December 7,1938. He was the son of the late Mr. James Garfield Sr. and the late Emma Irene Smith. Mr. Smith and Gloria Taylor were married on April 7, 1961. Mr. Smith lived most of his life in Marietta and was a member of Open Bible Tabernacle in Marietta. Mr. Smith was a truck driver by trade also was a professional tile setter. Mr. Smith loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

Mr. Smith was a proud veteran where he served in the U.S Army in   the 82nd airborne division 1956 to 1959 when he transferred to Army Reserves.

In addition to his parents Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his daughter Rhonda Smith Bearden.

Survivors include his wife Gloria Smith of 58 years, Four children,Deborah Ramos (Mark) Illinois, Eric Wayne Smith Jr. (Linda)of Marietta Ga., William Russell Smith (Sheila)of Rockmart Ga.,and Erica Nelson of Marietta Ga, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and many beloved friends and family.

Medford-Peden Funeral Home is in charge is of the services. There will be a committal Service at Olive Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Tuesday, December 31st at 3:00 PM. The reverend Michael Knowles will be officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday December 29th from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Monday December 30,2019 from 10:00 a.m till hour of funeral at 2:00, p.m.
