James Lamar Howard passed away and went to be with the Lord on October 29th, 2020 at his retirement home at the age of 78. Lamar was born on January 31st, 1942 in Austell, GA. He lived a full life serving his country and working for the school in Fulton County. Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, sisters (Marcia and Linda), and brothers (Dewey and Leon). He is survived by three adopted children: Sharon (Ken) Evans of Jasper, Vicky (Joe) Wallace of Woodstock; D. Wesley Elliott (Tracey) of Blairsville, and one surviving brother Dewey Howard. Lamar is lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews as well as several adopted grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lamar planted his roots in Woodstock, GA after serving time in the military. He spent a lot of time in the community and will be greatly missed by so many.
Visitation will be held at Medford-Peden Funeral Home in Marietta, GA on Sunday November 8th, 2020 between 1 pm - 4 pm and Monday, November 9th, 2020 between 10 am - 12 pm.
A celebration of life will be held at Medford-Peden Chapel on Monday, November 10th at 12:30 pm and the funeral will commence at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Monday November 10th, 2020.
