John Davis Obituary

John Milton Davis, 78, a resident of Kennesaw, GA, peacefully entered the embrace of his Heavenly Father’s arms on March 23, 2024.

Born on May 16, 1945, in Alpharetta, Georgia, John was the cherished child of William and Ruth Davis. John came into this world with the wisdom of an old soul. Following his graduation from Sprayberry High School in 1963, he pursued accounting studies at Young Harris before transferring to Kennesaw State University.

During the Vietnam War, John answered the call to duty and served his nation with pride as a member of the United States Army.

Upon completing his studies in accounting, John embarked on his professional journey, commencing his illustrious career at Western Electric/AT&T/ Lucent Technologies, where he assumed the role of an accountant. He additionally lent his skills to renowned institutions like Lockheed Martin and Life University.

In 1965, John encountered Wanda, the love of his life, through a mutual acquaintance. Together, they were blessed with four remarkable children: Kimberly, Brandon, Chessa, and William.

An ardent aficionado of history, as well as an avid stamp and coin collector, John found profound joy in the company of his beloved family.

John took great pride in his heritage and family, leading him to advocate for the naming of Davis Elementary School in Marietta, GA. John, hailing from the fourth generation of Cobb County, took the initiative to lead and presided over The Davis Family Cemetery for twenty-one years.

After retiring in 2008, John savored his newfound free time, indulging in his favorite activities such as enjoying nature outdoors, embarking on spontaneous road trips, collecting coins, and cherishing moments with family.

John was preceded in death by his parents William and Ruth, his brother James, and his devoted wife Wanda. He is survived by his sisters Brenda and Teresa (Harry), his children Kim (Tom) Holloway, Brandon (Jessica), Chessa (Devin) Sadler, and William, his grandchildren Kristy (Corey), Daniel, Madison, Gavin, and Gwendylan, and his great-grandchildren Bradley, Will, and Aubrey.

John possessed a strong determination and occasional stubbornness, yet he also exuded immense kindness and a delightful sense of humor. His absence leaves a profound void, keenly felt not only by his immediate family but also by the extensive community of friends who held him dear. The family is sincerely grateful for your support as they navigate through this challenging period.
