John Giles Kennedy was born on June 22, 1949, and passed peacefully on Oct. 17th, 2022. John is best remembered for his sense of humor and his love for his children Jonathan Giles Kennedy and Jennifer Lynn Kennedy. John simply adored his 2 young granddaughters Keana and Abby.
John led a full and adventurous life of professional work and travel, which took him around the world. John's early career started in his 20's as a morning Disc Jockey in Dallas, Texas. His passion for music was a constant in his life along with his love for everything Elvis.
In 1974 John's diverse career led him to McDonald's corporate office in Oakbrook, IL. John's position in McDonald's marketing and advertising division allowed him to work closely with the Jerry Lewis telethons and McDonald's charities.
In 1984 John became a partner in Gabe, Tomlin, and Giles Advertising Agency in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Rich Gabe, Ken Tomlin, and John grew their company to become the largest in the Southeast. GTG was responsible for bringing the tour of England's Robes of the Realm to the United States which benefited Prince Charles's charities. GTG was instrumental in growing Blockbuster video from a few stores to over 9000 nationwide. GTG marketed and franchised Buy Owner real estate corporation and Value Rent A Car.
In 1991 the family moved to Atlanta, Ga. where John was the president of New Vision Marketing and Advertising. John developed an educational video campaign for Lutheran Bible Translators. He worked on a national campaign for United Consumers Club and worked with numerous other major corporations on their marketing, advertising, and franchises.
John's love of travel and island life took him to Belize in 2010. Where John started his company, All Things ATM while living in his beach paradise. He remained on his beloved island until 2021 when his health declined and since then has resided in Marietta, Ga. close to his family.
John is survived by his son; Jonathan Giles Kennedy, and daughter-in-law Heather Daughter; Jennifer Lynn Kennedy, Granddaughters; Keana Kennedy and Abby Pitt, Along with 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law; Melissa and Michael Garrell, Melinda Brown, Melanie, and Lester Beam. Along with 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
John was preceded in death by his Mother; Judi Giles, Father; John Kennedy, Step Father; Jay Giles, Sister; Molly Giles, Brother; Doug Giles.
There will be a celebration of life from 1PM - 7PM on Saturday, October 22nd at Medford-Peden Funeral Home.
