Marianne Carol Schwartz passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021.
Carol was born October 20, 1929, to Elizabeth and Paul Copley in Maryville
TN. She and her mother later moved to Culver City, CA where she
graduated from Los Angeles State College in 1951.
Carol met Robert E. Schwartz, who was in the U. S. Navy, at the U. S. O.
Club in Oxnard California in 1953. The two were married in July 1954.
Their two sons, Robert Jr. and William, were born in 1961 and 1963.
Carol was an elementary school teacher for over forty years. She earned her
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from West Georgia
University after the family moved to Smyrna, Georgia in the 1970s.
Her lifelong love was music, a love and talent she passed on to her family.
Carol played the piano, teaching many private piano students and sang alto
in many choirs over the years. One of her proudest achievements was to
sing under the baton of Robert Shaw, during his time leading the Atlanta
Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.
Carol is survived by her husband Robert E. Schwartz of Smyrna, GA, her
two sons, Robert Jr. (Elaine) of Stone Mountain, GA and William P. (Aixa)
of Smyrna, her half-sister Lola Lopes, and her two loving granddaughters,
Linda and Andrea.
Inurnment at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 9:30 AM. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville at a later date.
