Michael Courtland Spitler of Marietta, GA, passed away on November 9, 2023. Born on August 16, 1956 in Cincinnati, OH, was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend. He was 67 years old.
Known as Mike, he was a funny, kind, and a generous person to all who knew him. He had a great sense of humor and was always there to bring a smile to anyone's face. Family meant the world to Mike, and he cherished his relationships with his loved ones.
He is survived by his sister Judy Imel and her husband Mike of Waldron, IN, as well their children Mike and Linda. Mike is also survived by his brother Doug Spitler and his wife Linda of Greensburg, IN, as well as their children Patty Spitler, Tara Friund and husband Jerry, Karen Bragg and husband Bryan, and Douglas Spitler and wife Keely. His brother David Spitler and husband Leonard Rodda of Atlanta, GA, sister Jeannette Flynn and husband Lamar of Ball Ground, GA, also survive him, as well as stepsister Dawn Burkhardt and husband Ron of Loveland, OH and many great nieces and nephews.
Mike attended Shelbyville Senior High School and later served in the Indiana Army National Guard, United States Air Force, Georgia Air National Guard retiring from his military career. He was proud of his service and dedicated himself to his country.
In his free time, Mike was an avid music and movie collector. He loved discovering new artists and films, and his collection was a testament to his passion for entertainment. Mike was a regular volunteer for charitable services; food banks, Hosea Willaims Feed The Hungry, Habitat For Humanity and several smaller organizations. Mike helped numerous friends and family with his computer skills.
Mike also enjoyed taking care of his home in Douglasville, GA, traveling to Amsterdam where he worked for a couple of years and weekend motorcycle trips.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services for Mike. However, if you would like to honor his memory, please consider making a charitable donation to the charity of your choosing.
Mike Spitler will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May his kind and generous spirit live on in our hearts forever.
