Opal Tatum

Opal Holmes Tatum, age 99, of Marietta, GA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband, James Gaston Tatum.  Survivors include her daughters: Dianne Carter of Kennesaw and Deborah Babykin of Marietta; granddaughters: Anastacia Murray, Margie Purtic and Ginna Mage; and 9 greatgrandchildren.

Opal grew up in Pickens County, GA, but lived most of her life in Cobb County.  She was active in her church and positively impacted many lives over the years.  She never knew a stranger and would always make you feel welcomed.  Anyone who truly knew her knew she had a big heart.  She would give you anything, even if it was not hers to give.  She loved gardening and would share the bounty with family, friends, and even strangers. 

Her long, fruitful life was one of strong belief in the Lord and faithfulness in all of life’s events.  She will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Medford-Peden Funeral Home at 1408 Canton Road, NE, Marietta, GA on Saturday, January 29th, 2022 at 1:00 pm with funeral service following at 2:00 pm.
