On July 7, 2021, Alvand Richard Williams II, known as Richard, left this Earth peacefully in Marietta, Georgia. He was a beloved father, brother and friend. Richard was born on March 5, 1963, in Bristol, Tennessee to Alvand Richard Williams and Peggie Sue Williams. Richard grew up in Orange Park, Florida, and received his Bachelor of Arts in English from Oglethorpe University, followed by his Master of Arts in Teaching from Emory University.
Richard deeply loved the outdoors, and some of the highlights of his life were hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail and multiple visits to Yosemite National Park. He spent many years as a high school English teacher and basketball coach; sharing his passion for literature and basketball with young people was his inspiration. He loved the Boston Celtics, and Larry Bird in particular, although the NCAA basketball tournament every March was his favorite time of year.
Richard was preceded in death by his father Alvand, his mother Peggie, and his sister Millicent Jane Brien. He is survived by daughter Kathryne Brooke Drucker (Eric Drucker), daughter Brett Ashton Tarver, grandchildren Easton Victor Drucker and Ophelia Kathryne Drucker; also sister Rebecca Ann Stevens (Robert Reed Stevens), brother Timothy Lee Williams (Katrina Gayle Williams) and niece Elizabeth Mackenzie Williams.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on Friday, August 13th at 6pm at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Shakespeare Tavern in Atlanta, Georgia.
